JAKARTA — Education is more than classrooms and textbooks; it is about shaping character, instilling values, and guiding young people to become leaders who serve humanity. In that spirit, the World Muslim Scout Jamboree (WMSJ) 2025 opens tonight with a historic declaration of global peace, reminding the world that Muslim youth are called not only to learn, but to lead, unite, and safeguard harmony.
Held as part of the centennial celebration of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor, the jamboree reflects the pesantren’s philosophy that true education integrates faith, discipline, and responsibility. The gathering of thousands of scouts underscores how scouting serves as a bridge between knowledge and action, preparing young Muslims to be ambassadors of peace in a troubled world.
Tonight’s ceremony will see 15,000 Muslim scouts and leaders from Indonesia and 16 other countries join in prayer and sign a global peace petition at Cibubur Scout Camp in East Jakarta.
WMSJ Chairman Aditya Warman said the opening will symbolize unity between religious and community leaders at a time when the world is plagued by conflict and uncertainty. “This joint prayer is a reminder that the Muslim Scout Jamboree carries a mission of global peace. We want to show the world that Indonesia and the Muslim youth community are committed to being peacemakers,” Aditya explained in a press statement on Tuesday (Sept. 9).

The opening will be attended by national leaders and scholars, including People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Ahmad Muzani, Deputy Speaker Hidayat Nur Wahid, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, as well as the leaders of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor: KH Hasan Abdullah Sahal, KH Amal Fathullah Zarkasyi, KH Akrim Mariyat, and KH Hamid Fahmi Zarkasyi.
Their presence underscores that tonight’s message of peace from Cibubur is not only the voice of scouts, but also the collective voice of the Indonesian nation, born from the spirit of Darussalam Gontor.
The ceremony will include prayers across leaders, the signing of a peace petition, and a pledge to make Muslim scouts initiators of global reconciliation.
Aditya added that this initiative aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, which places Indonesia at the forefront of international peace efforts. “In a world marked by conflict, economic uncertainty, and political tension, we want to send a message of hope from Cibubur,” he said.
According to him, the strength of WMSJ’s peace declaration lies in its diversity. Scouts representing different countries and backgrounds will carry these values back to their communities. “Every individual has a responsibility to spread goodness in their environment. Through this experience, we hope participants become agents of change and messengers of peace,” Aditya emphasized.

The World Muslim Scout Jamboree 2025 is the first international gathering of Muslim scouts, with 15,333 participants from 16 countries. Held on September 9–14, 2025 at the Cibubur Scout Camp in East Jakarta, the event is part of the centennial celebration of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. This year’s theme is: “We Are Muslim, Civilized, United, and Peaceful.”
